My profile
I am a counsellor with a private practice and I work as a consultant
to the voluntary sector in the UK doing training and development.
I have a background in adult education, training, consultancy to individuals,
groups, teams and organisations. I worked in secondary education for many years
with a strong interest in the pastoral care of pupils and staff. I was a Year
Head and Head of Careers.
I am qualified as a SIMA (System for Identifying
Motivated Abilities) Coach,
and worked for ICI as a Training Manager – my responsibilities included
the enabling of workers whose jobs were made redundant to think about career-change.
I hold a degree in English and Philosophy from the University
of Kent at Canterbury and a Masters Degree in Adult Education from the
University of Liverpool (Chester
College) which had a strong consultancy element, both theory and practice.
In addition I have
a
Post Graduate Certificate in Education and another in Counselling Theory and
Practice.
My theory base for counselling is primarily Person Centred although I use some
of the Transactional Analysis, Gestalt, and Psychoanalytic techniques and theories
if these seem to be relevant and helpful.
I am in regular supervision, abide by the BACP
Ethical Framework, and can assure
you of a professional, sympathetic approach.
I live in the Reading Area with my husband, a geriatric cat, and Ollie, my
elderly King Charles spaniel. I have two grown up daughters and three little
grandsons
who all live locally.
